PRE-CONFERENCE OPPORTUNITIES SACNAS offers multiple online reviewing opportunities for volunteers before the conference.
As a research presentation reviewer, you will receive approximately 15 abstracts in your discipline to review. We provide the guidelines and access to an online reviewing system, as well as your time frame to complete the process. Each abstract takes about 20 minutes to review. Volunteer time: Approximately 5 hours over the span of July 25 - August 8. Eligibility: ☑ Review undergraduate student abstracts: Must be a professional with a PhD or a Master’s degree. ☑ Review graduate student abstracts: Must be a professional with a PhD. As an Application Reviewer, you will receive approximately 25 scholarship applications to assess. We provide the guidelines and access to an online reviewing system, as well as your time frame to complete the process. Each application takes about 20 minutes to review. Volunteer time: Approximately 6 hours over the span of July 25 - August 8. Eligibility: ☑ Must be a professional with a minimum of bachelor’s degree. ☑ Will not submit a travel scholarship application in 2017. CONFERENCE OPPORTUNITIES SACNAS offers multiple opportunities for volunteers during 2017 SACNAS. Volunteers must be registered for the conference.
As a Mentor Judge, you will be assigned (per day) approximately 4 to 5 presentations in your discipline to view. Each presentation takes about 15 minutes to view. Volunteer time: Approximately 1.5 hours per day. Dates: October 19 - 21, 2017 Eligibility: ☑ Must be a professional with a PhD or a Master’s degree. ☑ Have previous experience in judging/mentoring in similar events. ☑ Must be a registered attendee for 2017 SACNAS. **Note: Students in Masters or PhD programs are not eligible. Conversations with Scientists is SACNAS' signature mentoring event. In this 90-minute program, undergraduate and graduate students can meet and speak with mentors in their own fields. Participants are divided into rooms based on discipline. Mentors answer specific questions and share their own educational and professional stories.
